Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Your safety should never be bought with your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what the SafeStep Navigator website collects, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.
What we collect
- Waitlist and beta requests: your email, and — if you choose — your name, city, device, and how you usually move. We use this only to send your invitation and fit the beta to your life.
- Hazard reports: the type of danger, a short description, and a location. Email is optional and used only for follow-up. A report is never tied to a device identity.
- Partnership applications: local merchants share a shop name, activity, address, offer, and phone; institutions share organisation, sector, official email, phone, and a short message. We use this only to review eligibility and arrange a conversation.
- Security telemetry: a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address, used only to slow abuse. The raw address is never stored.
What we never do
- We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics cookies, or browser fingerprinting.
- We never sell personal data.
- Hazard coordinates are shared with cities only in aggregated or anonymised form.
Legal basis and retention
We process form data on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in running a secure service. Waitlist and beta records are kept until launch in your region plus twelve months, or until you ask us to delete them. Security logs are kept for ninety days.
Where your data is held
Submissions are stored in an encrypted cloud that the public website cannot read, change, or delete — it can only add a new row. Staff access requires a verified role, and every read is written to an immutable audit log. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR and the CCPA — you may ask to see, correct, or delete your data, or object to processing. Write to us from the address you used and we will reply within thirty days. safestepnavigatorssn@gmail.com
Children
SafeStep Navigator is not directed at children under sixteen, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will publish any change on this page and update the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy.
